 Join Shawnee Town in partnership with Aztec Shawnee Theater the 2023 historical film series!  Films will be showing at the newly and beautifully restored Aztec Shawnee Theater at 11119 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203. We look forward to seeing you at the movies.


Valentines: It Happened One Night

Enjoy an evening of classic romance in downtown Shawnee this Valentine’s Day! A perfect date night package, attend this one–night only showing of iconic 1934 film “It Happened One Night” featuring Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert on the historic Aztec Shawnee Theater screen! Captain Blood

Enjoy a swashbuckling night at the Aztec Shawnee Theater with Errol Flynn in 1935’s Captain Blood! Is there anything more iconic as a summer blockbuster than a pirate movie? This star–making role as a doctor-turned-pirate established Flynn as an icon of the Great Depression era, along with co–star Olivia de Hallivand, and they went on to make seven more films together. Watch their first appearance together as it was originally seen on screen at the historic 1927 Aztec Shawnee Theater!

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased on the link up above. Cocktails, beverages, and snacks will be available for purchase and you can bring non–beverage purchases from the food trucks into the theater! The Mummy Double Feature

Kick off the spookiest month of the year with a classic horror DOUBLE FEATURE! We’re bringing back the original 1932 film The Mummy, one of the original Universal Studios’ Classic Monsters, along with its first sequel The Mummy’s Hand released in 1940. Featuring horror icon Boris Karloff starring as Imhotep, an ancient Egyptian mummy who is accidentally brought to life by a team of archaeologists, you won’t want to miss this spectacle on the big screen of the historic 1927 Aztec Theater! Tickets are $8 and include admission to both feature films.
