Description

Nothing like the smells of a farmhouse kitchen to feel at home. Join us for a day of delicious fall cooking in our 1920s Shawnee kitchen (samples included)!

Our community’s kitchen tables featured many different cultural foods, from European immigrants to Black southern foodways, and Mexican cuisine brought north with the railroads. But many people adopted American foodways featuring the latest canned and packaged products mixed with the seasonal produce of our local farms. Cooks will be chatting with visitors and sharing samples – stop by September 30 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm to see what’s on our table!

This program is included with general admission and free to Friends of Shawnee Town members.

*Due to our hands–on cooking program, guided tours will only be offered at 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm today.
