Nothing like a farmhouse kitchen to feel at home on a Saturday! Join us for our new cooking series, “Farm to Table Saturdays,” highlighting the recipes and ingredients common in a 1920s Shawnee kitchen. Every month we’ll feature a new food theme and feature the mix of the modern products, cultural traditions, and local agriculture that influenced every Kansas City family’s dinner table 100 years ago.
SEPTEMBER: Tomato Soup Cake
Grilled
cheese is not the only thing that goes with tomato soup... Just add a
bit of flour, some sugar and a few spices and you are well on your way
to a delicious tomato soup cake! Stop by and try this surprisingly
delicious 1928 recipe.
The program is included with general admission and free to Friends of Shawnee Town members. Guests are welcome to chat with our cooks and sample their efforts from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Follow our social media or sign up for email updates on our monthly cooking themes!
